Golf Honda LPGA Classic 2017
South East Asia is rapidly becoming one of the fastest growing regions in the world for golf. Whether it’s playing the game, the courses on offer or in a spectator sense, golf is becoming big business in Thailand. Pattaya is widely considered the densest golf terrain in Thailand, with over 25 courses just a 45-minute drive from Pattaya City and will once again be host to the 2017 Honda LPGA Classic at The Old Course, Siam Country Club Pattaya.
The Honda LPGA Classic is currently in its 11th year and is known as one of the most awaited and prestigious golf tournaments on the Women’s tour calendar. This year the event will be held from the 23rd to the 26th February once again at The Old Course at Siam Country Club, which is one of the best courses in not only Thailand but in SE-Asia.
The top-58 women golfers in the world will be descending on Pattaya for the tournament, alongside other local invites and a personal sponsors invitation list, promising to be the most competitive golf tournament in Thailand this year.
There is a total prize money pot of 1.6m USD and also exclusive Honda giveaways for holes in one on selected holes. The tournament will be televised not only across Thailand on Channel 5, but also worldwide, bringing much exposure to Thailand and even the Pattaya Property market who always benefit from more exposure in the world media.
Mr. Palakorn Somsuwan, Managing Director of Bangkok Broadcasting & TV Co., Ltd. who is the sole rights holder of organizing the LPGA tournament in Thailand 2017, recently said at the tournament’s press conference that “From the marvelous success of organizing the tournament for the past 10 years, we, on behalf of organizing committee, are ready to step forward for the second decade of this tournament.
We plan to take it to the next level once again and will also have special activities such as the youth golf clinic, which offers the opportunity and experience to learn game techniques from one of the best female players in the world.”
